Artist Statement
Zachary works with the mediums of photography and digital video to explore the subtleties as well
as overt expressions of human behavior. His work is primarily based on ephemeral moments
and chance encounters with people in public spaces that he can observe and record. Some
projects require him to give an introduction and collaborate with the subject, while other projects
demand that the subject remain unaware of his presence. His most recent works 3000+ Miles & Hotel Rooms focus on the
absence of people and documenting places and spaces in a transient state.
